Reflections and Gratitude: Stepping into 2026

As we embrace the first month of 2026, I find myself looking back at the past few years with a smile. Living in our “reinspirement” years, we remain deeply passionate about sharing pertinent information on healthy living, wellness, and longevity through our Power of 5 formula.

We continue to celebrate the successful transition of David’s book, The Power of 5: The Ultimate Formula for Longevity and Remaining Youthful, into a self-directed online course, alongside the launch of my two health-focused cookbooks. If our past reflections were about Big Projects, then 2025 and 2026 are truly about Big Connections.

A New Foundation

The most significant physical change for us recently was moving our home in early 2025. Dr. B recently chronicled this journey in his sixth book, When It’s Time to Move: Assessing the Why, Exploring the How. In it, he catalogs our experiences from the last few years, sharing how we made informed, intentional decisions regarding this life-altering event.

As many of you know, your environment is a key element of the G.R.A.C.E. acronym. Relocating has given us a fresh canvas to practice what we preach—setting up a new “kitchen laboratory” for longevity, discovering new trails for our “Sweat” element, and creating a sanctuary that minimizes “Stress.” It has been a whirlwind, but a deeply rewarding fresh start.

New Chapters and Nourishment

The momentum hasn’t stopped in the library or the kitchen!

A New Publication: With the release of When It’s Time to Move, it feels wonderful to put new research and reflections into your hands, continuing the mission we started years ago. Our blogs continue to address real health and wellness issues with actionable solutions that support the Power of 5 formula.

In the Kitchen: My passion for “Melissa’s Modifications” continues to ensure that people of all eating lifestyles can enjoy my recipes, online or using my cookbook, The Power of 5 Test Kitchen Your Guide to Healthy Cooking and Eating.

I have been busy developing brand-new dishes that bridge the gap between gourmet flavor and longevity-focused nutrition. There is nothing quite like the joy of using nourishing ingredients that act as medicine for the body. I truly believe that “food is medicine” and that “you are what you eat.” A foundation of whole, plant-based foods—fresh fruits, leafy greens, grains, legumes, and healthy fats from nuts and avocados—combined with lean protein and the omission of ultra-processed foods, provides the essential fuel for a vibrant mind and body.

The Art of Expression

For years, while working, raising children, and managing a household, I pushed my creative spark to the back burner. Since entering “reinspirement,” I have rekindled my love for art through Intuitive Art classes at our local fine arts organization. Exploring acrylics and mixed media has allowed me to connect with fellow enthusiasts. Every week, we spend three hours together, focusing on art, enjoying background music, and disconnecting from technology. It is, quite simply, joyful.

A Growing Global Community

Our travels over the past years have been the ultimate test (and triumph) of the “Socialization” element of the Power of 5. While exploring, we have been blessed to make new friends from all walks of life, sharing stories and wellness tips across borders.

But as we expand our world, we haven’t lost sight of those who have known us since the beginning. We’ve worked hard to maintain our cherished long-term friendships, proving that while distances may change, the bonds of a supportive community are timeless. These relationships are the true “Power” in our Power of 5.

Dreams in Motion

Standing here in 2026, I am reminded that “reinspirement” isn’t just a phase—it’s a lifestyle. From my days as an occupational therapist to my life now as a healthy lifestyle advocate, author, chef, and artist, the goal remains the same: helping you live your best, healthiest life.

Dr. B and I are so proud of how far we’ve all come together. We send our sincerest hopes for a 2026 filled with adventure, health, and deep connection.

To Healthy Cooking and Eating!
