An Easy-to-Prep Berry Smoothie for Your Gut Health
Since I wholeheartedly agree with Hippocrates that Food is Medicine, eating the right foods (like my berry smoothie) that support digestion and gut health are crucial for one’s health. Research shows that a well-balanced gut microbiome enhances immune defense, regulates metabolism, reduces inflammation, and boosts mood. An imbalance of the good and bad bacteria can lead to various digestive disorders, weaken immunity, and create mental health challenges like anxiety and depression.
Foods that contain probiotics, fiber, and that are fermented are most beneficial to balance the gut microbiome. An added benefit is that they also help reduce stress.
My delicious and easy-to-make berry smoothie is packed with probiotics, fiber, and antioxidants to nourish your gut.

Berry & Kefir (or Yogurt) Smoothy
Equipment
- Blender
Ingredients
- 1 cup plain kefir dairy or non-dairy, your choice!
- 1/2 cup mixed berries fresh or frozen – blueberries, raspberries, strawberries
- 1/2 ripe banana
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds for extra fiber and omega-3s
- 1/2 cup leafy greens spinach or kale, you won’t taste it!
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a blender.
- Blend until smooth and creamy. If too thick, add a splash of water or non-dairy milk.
- Enjoy immediately!
